Count Us In Awards

Count Us In Awards 2009 The Count Us In Awards, presented at an event on the International Day of People with Disability, 3 December, showcases initiatives by individuals, schools, businesses, State and Local Governments which strengthen opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in community life. The awards celebrate efforts at fostering an equitable community for everyone.

Awards will be presented in the following categories:

The Barry MacKinnon Award for Employment
This award will be presented to a business that has created a welcoming and inclusive workplace for an employee/s with disabilities.

• The Welcoming Communities Award for Schools
  This award is open to all Western Australian primary and secondary schools that have enhanced access and inclusion for students, staff and family members with disabilities.
  
  
• The Count Us In Award for Business
  This award acknowledges initiatives by business to address the needs of customers with disabilities.
  
  
• The Count Us In Award for an Individual
  This award recognises individuals with or without a disability working in a voluntary capacity to improve access and inclusion for people with disabilities within the wider Western Australian community.
  
  
• The Count Us In Award for Local Government
  This award acknowledges access and inclusion activities by Local Government, and may include access to employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
  
  
• The Count Us In Award for State Government
  This award acknowledges access and inclusion activities by State Government agencies, and may include access to employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

The Dr Louisa Alessandri Award for Excellence will be presented to the most outstanding winner from the six award categories.
