People with disabilities and their families, like everyone have different abilities and talents to share and their own needs and aspirations. Where contributions are supported and encouraged, communities become stronger and this helps us all to have a good life.
Key information for people with disabilities, their families and carers is provided in our Community Life website.
This information includes key topics such as advocacy, education, health and well-being, the importance of getting about in the community and most importantly, focusing on having a good life.
A vision for a good life is a very individual matter. People with disabilities have said that planning for a safe and secure future, opportunities to contribute to the community, a network of family and friends, a safe home and freedom to go about our day-to-day life all contribute to a good life.
Information about services and supports from government agencies, community organisations and the Disability Services Commission is available throughout the website’s topic areas. Stories that provide personal perspectives on these topic areas are also available.
