Two more Changing Places now open

Date: 14/12/2016

The Shire of Toodyay has opened a Changing Place in the town’s centre, in Charcoal Lane, after receiving a $71,000 grant from the Disability Services Commission.

The grant was part of a $2 million State Government program to support local governments to develop a Changing Places network across WA.

Additionally, WA’s first privately funded Changing Place has opened at BP Australia’s new service centre at The Lakes, 45km east of Perth, at the junction of Great Eastern and Great Southern Highways.   BP Australia is the first private business to self-fund and complete a Changing Place in WA.

Changing Places are secure, clean facilities for people with disability who need space and assistance to use a bathroom when out and about in the community. They are different to standard accessible toilets and have an adult sized change table, hoist and enough space for two people to assist.
