To prepare for the roll-out of the NDIS across WA, the Department of Communities is moving to an individualised approach to funding.

This means that a person with disability, with the support of a Local Coordinator, develops a personal plan for their future. This plan may identify strategies that require funded supports such as therapy, community access, family support or independent living supports.

Local Coordinators can guide people through the planning process and provide further information. Because of this change of approach to individualised funding the Combined Application Process (CAP) will no longer run. The final CAP round was completed on 28 April 2017. 

Funding previously available through CAP will now be used for the individualised planning process. Until the NDIS is fully rolled out across the state, the demand for funded supports will continue to exceed the level of funding available for allocation by the Department of Communities.

For people who already receive CAP funding, there is no immediate change. However over the next few years, as the NDIS rolls out across WA, they will start to work with a Local Coordinator to develop a personalised plan that captures their support needs, including any reasonable and necessary funded supports.

People who have urgent or critical needs as can contact their Local Coordinator, who can support them to develop an individualised plan.
