The Disability Services Commission assists in the provision of services to people with disability living in regional, rural and remote Western Australia, by supporting country-based therapists.
The Country Resource and Consultancy Team (CRCT) provides training, consultancy and continuing education to therapists in country areas to support their ongoing professional development and competence in working with people with disability. The CRCT consists of speech pathologists, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists who are experienced in providing services for people with disability.
Country-based therapists, working for the WA Country Health services or in private practice, can request CRCT support at any time. While CRCT is involved, the country-based therapist continues as the direct service provider for the person. The level of support provided by CRCT varies according to the needs of the country-based therapist and the person with disability.
The overall aim is for the CRCT and country-based therapists to work together to improve access and quality of therapy services for people with disability who live in regional, rural and remote WA.
CRCT members and country therapists work closely with Local Area Coordinators to help maximise the health outcomes for people with disability and their families.
